Veronika Pettey on fire with a hat trick and Pride 14s clamps down to win the shutout

In a shutout game, Pride 14s triumphed over Hershey Bears 4 - zip at Rockville in MD on Sunday. Pride 14s scored one goal to take the lead in the first period. Pride 14s gained three goals in the second period and held on to its lead. Pride 14s never looked back. With both teams scoreless in the third period, Pride 14s conserved its lead, and was the winner.

Turning in a great performance for Pride 14s, Veronika Pettey made the hat trick with three goals. Putting their initial points on the board, Pettey put the biscuit into the net in the first period. Elise Park and Grace Dorrian got the assists on this goal. This was the knock out punch for Pride 14s. Pride 14s pierced the defense when Pettey netted an unassisted goal in the second period. Pride 14s kept going when Pettey scored a shorthanded goal without any assistance in the second period. Karinna Cave-Hawkins tallied one goal for Pride 14s.

Two goaltenders were used by Pride 14s to get the win. Leading the way to a shutout for Pride 14s, Gianna Meloni blocked 11 out of 11 shots on goal to take the win. Having a perfect day, Pride 14s's Alexandra Dalaya stopped three shots.

This was the first game for Hershey Bears but Pride 14s entered the game with a record of 16-18.
